Haven’s Women of Philanthropy groups recently voted on how they would spend their respective dollars in support of Haven Hospice. The groups were presented with multiple different projects unique to each area on which to vote.
“Haven Hospice is thankful for the Haven Women of Philanthropy—women who are dedicated to the Haven mission and commit their time and funding to ensure patients and families receive ‘extras’ to help them during their most challenging time,” said Jennifer Malko, Haven Vice President of Development and Executive Director for the Haven Foundation. “Their support of creative projects makes a special impact in the communities we serve.”
- Haven Women of Philanthropy Jacksonville funded Haven’s Dementia Care Program; a scholarship fund for student volunteers; and a pilot program for bird feeders outside patient rooms.
- Haven Women of Philanthropy Orange Park funded a winter wonderland room in which patients, families, visitors and staff can celebrate holidays and find peace; a blanket warmer for the hospice care center; a sensory wall for dementia patients; and enrichment activities for patients in Haven’s Dementia Care Program.
- Haven Women of Philanthropy Gainesville funded a cognitive connection sensory room for the Haven Dementia Care Program; scholarships for Gator Students for Haven Hospice volunteers; and partially funded a wind phone with which visitors can “connect” with loved ones.
In addition, all groups, including the Lake City Women of Philanthropy, funded pediatric “blessing baskets” across Haven’s service area. The Haven Women of Philanthropy are partnering with Barrett’s Blessings to create the baskets. Barrett’s Blessings is a foundation created by Barrett Carver’s parents in his memory; Barret was a young patient with cancer who received Haven Hospice’s care. This partnership ensures that every pediatric patient and their family receives a blessing basket as soon as they enter Haven’s services.
We thank the Haven Women of Philanthropy for their contributions and for so carefully choosing how these dollars can make a difference for the patients and families Haven serves.
