Haven Hospice was awarded two Florida Hospice and Palliative Care Association (FHPCA) Awards of Excellence at the FHPCA 41st Annual Forum in Orlando, Florida.

Alltop won the Rising Leader Award and Howard accepted the Excellence in Program Innovation Award for Clinical Practice on behalf of the Haven Dementia Care Program.

Haven’s Dementia Care Program won the Excellence in Program Innovation Award for Clinical Practice. This award recognizes services or programs provided by a hospice organization that demonstrate the power of creativity and ingenuity to impact the practice and the community; reward the accomplishments of the program; and challenges others to adapt inspirational ideas to their own communities to propel hospice forward.

Haven Dementia Care was selected for finding a solution to a problem via an innovative program; the skills, resources and talent gathered; programming details; positive outcomes; its practical applications for other organizations; and more. Launched in 2024, Haven’s Dementia Care Program was serving more than 260 patients and their caregivers at the time of FHPCA award submission.

Anita Howard, Haven Dementia Care Program Manager, was present to accept the Excellence in Program Innovation Award on behalf of the program.

Patient Care Representative Christina Alltop was also an award recipient at the FHPCA Annual Forum, winning the Rising Leader Award. The Rising Leader Award recognizes an individual who is under the age of 35 or has been working in hospice for less than five years and exhibits exemplary professional accomplishments and a commitment to hospice. They are known to go over and above regularly and are considered an asset to the team.

Christina, who joined Haven in 2022 as a Team Assistant in the E.T. York Care Center, was quickly promoted to the Haven Transitions program, then referral coordinator, and now serves as Patient Care Representative. In each role, her passion for hospice shines through. She leads enthusiastically, advocates and makes monumental strides for each program. Christina was named Patient Care Representative Rookie of the Year for all of BrightSpring Health Services, Haven’s corporate parent.

Haven’s winners were nominated by leaders for their outstanding commitment to patients and families, their peers and the impact they make on the profession as a whole. The nominations detailed unique contributions and innovative impact at Haven as well as in the community. Christina Alltop and the Dementia Care Program were recognized at the FHPCA’s 41st Annual Forum’s awards ceremony and awarded a plaque.
