Sharon A. Jones, FAHP, CFRE, one of the nation’s leading health care philanthropy professionals, has been named this year’s winner of the prestigious Harold J. (Si) Seymour Award by the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP).

“Sharon Jones has demonstrated true commitment to the health care philanthropy profession,” said Alice Ayres, President and CEO of AHP. “Not only does she excel in her role at Haven, but she is also a mentor and role model to so many through her work at the Madison Institute and in the many other volunteer roles she has held through AHP. It is a pleasure to work with Sharon on the AHP board of directors and to see the many ways she gives back to the profession.”

Jones, who is Vice President of Development at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Florida, started her career in health care fundraising in 1991. Before joining Haven, Jones has held Vice President of Development roles in hospice and hospital settings.

Jones serves on the Board of Directors of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and has been a faculty member of the Madison Institute since 2012. She became the chair of the Institute in 2014 and continues to serve in that capacity. She serves on the AHP Task Force for Certification/Fellows and has frequently presented at the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization annual conferences. Jones received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida with high honors.

AHP’s Harold J. (Si) Seymour Award honors the memory of a trailblazer in the world of philanthropy. Seymour’s career spanned a half-century of fundraising on behalf of many worthy causes, from the National War Fund during World War II and Harvard University, to youth groups, educational institutions, health organizations and numerous community service projects. His seminal book, Designs for Fundraising, published in 1966, is regarded as a “bible” of philanthropic fundraising to this day.
