Haven received a $40,000 grant with the support of The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida’s Respond/Adapt/Recover Fund, which offers assistance to local nonprofit organizations experiencing economic hardships related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida’s fund assists eligible nonprofit organizations with reimbursement for reopening costs and/or expenses associated with safely maintaining operations during the pandemic according to health guidelines. Haven safely served, and continues to serve, patients and families in its 18-county service area throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We know that agencies were suddenly faced with buying face masks, cleaning supplies, plexiglass panels, Zoom subscriptions, audiovisual equipment and a host of other expenses when COVID-19 threatened our community,” said Kathleen Shaw, Vice President, Programs at The Community Foundation. “It’s been a double whammy for them since many have had challenges with fundraising and traditional revenue sources. This fund is an attempt to help them recover at least some of their out-of-pocket costs so that they may continue their good work serving clients.”
With this financial support from The Community Foundation for Northeast Florida, Haven will continue to provide high-quality, compassionate hospice care, palliative care, Transitions and bereavement services, and Advance Care Planning.
“The Community Foundation of Northeast Florida grant funding for N-95 masks, filters and the two Sofia 2 COVID Test Analyzers could not have come at a better time,” said Haven Vice President of Development Sharon Jones. “The masks allow Haven employees in their everyday work to continue to treat COVID patients and their families. This testing machine allows the employees to be tested at their work site and have the test results in less than 15 minutes. These are real blessings.”
